Public Holidays 2018

This page contains a national calendar of all 2018 public holidays. Please scroll down to view.

National holidays are celebrated throughout France at the same time and in their territories, regardless of their locations. Some territories of France have additional holidays that are celebrated in that area only. These holidays are determined by the local governing boards and approved by the French government.

It is the prerogative of the French government to change public holidays if the occasion is deemed necessary. This may include changing a holiday to a working holiday, adding a date for a special event, or cancelling a holiday.

It should be noted that there are several pieces of legislation currently before the French government concerning holidays. Each of these legislative documents could change the holidays that are celebrated in France or in each of its territories.

The French government generally releases the official holiday dates at the end of the year for the following year. Please consider the current list as tentative dates until the official list has been confirmed with the French government. At that time, the official list will be published on this site.
